The outsider who ended the twelve-year freeze. He announced a 468 on Reddit in August 2020, then open-sourced his solver days later, complete with rare negative results: SAT, GPU and 2x2 caches all measured and discarded. In March 2021 he posted the 470 that still stands, found with the exact public code.
